| 7th Annual TULSA MARCH MANIA 2008 Tulsa March Mania Winners “Bigger and Better Than Ever” was a catch phrase that was used prior to the 7th Annual Tulsa March Mania. It was almost as if this was a prediction….. It is so amazing to think that our show had 2140 entries! We had a little bit of a rough time with the weather, but everyone seemed to make it to Tulsa. Then we had to deal with the cold days and bitter cold nights. But we made it!!! I believe that all those wonderful people who came to Tulsa to show their horses would not be stopped!!! They knew the best of the best was there and they all wanted to compete!! The 2008 Tulsa March Mania had many new and exciting happenings. We added a Two Judge Specialty Show to our Paint-O-Rama and Youth/Amateur Paint-O-Rama. This enabled our Open Halter, Open Hunter Under Saddle, and Open Western Pleasure exhibitors to show to six judges instead of four. We were fortunate to have famed Trail Clinician and Trail Course Designer, Tim Kimura, as part of our show. The Trail Clinics sold out so quickly that Tim agreed to have another clinic to try to accommodate a few more people!!! The Trail Courses were challenging, but very well received. Our trail classes were very large. We offered a Bridleless Western Pleasure Class for the first time. Sara Beth Simons riding Sensational Blonde was the winner of this class. A beautiful Phil Harris work saddle went home with the Gang from Simons Show Horses. Our Youth Fun Class took on a whole new look this year. Toilet Tag was the name of the game!!! Taking care of business was essential!!! We gave away a lot of cool prizes. The use of a Port-A-Cool Fan during the Paint World Show, Crystal, Silver, Money, a Rolex Watch, Five Saddles, More Money, Jewelry, a Full Page Ad in the Paint Horse Journal, Phil Harris Saddle Pads and Clothing, Cowboy Magic Grooming Products, a Full Page Ad in The Equine Chronicle, Spurs and Spur Straps, Directors Chairs, Hats, Pro Orthopedic Saddle Pads, Pro Stepps Grooming Products, Sundowner Green Jackets and Vests, Caps, Towels, Shoe Shine Kits, and even More Money. We gave away prizes, prizes, and more prizes. The GCPHC Youth Club had two big activities during the show. The Jail was certainly entertaining for those on the outside. Personally, I was quite distraught when my bail was revoked and the kids kept collecting more money just to keep me in jail!! I guess I know who my true friends are!!! The Gift Baskets were very nice and I am sure that the buyers are enjoying them. I would like to thank all the people who helped make this show such a huge success. The GCPHC Board of Directors was there for moral support before, during, and after the show. A special thanks to all the Board Members who worked tirelessly during the show. The show staff who worked countless hours to ensure that everything ran smoothly. All the Exhibitors – because without them, we wouldn’t have a show. All the Sponsors who give so much and have such faith in me. My volunteer friends who helped me so, so much. P. J. Davis and Chelsea Bain were the biggest stars of the show. I was beyond thrilled when they agreed to sing the National Anthem. Many, many thanks to both of them for sharing their beautiful voices with us. We can’t forget our Judges, Vendors, Spectators, and all the other “essential” people who help to make this show so successful. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to relive the 7th Annual Tulsa March Mania one more time. I am already making plans and looking forward to 2009!!!
